Five years ago, Poland barely registered in the Nepali migrant-worker imagination. Today, it is among the fastest-growing European destinations for Nepali workers — driven by a booming logistics and manufacturing economy, EU-level wages, and an opening of work-permit policy. This guide covers everything a Nepali worker needs to know about working in Poland in 2026.

Why Poland?

Three things make Poland exceptional for Nepali workers:

  • EU-level wages. Minimum wage is PLN 4,300/month (roughly NPR 145,000), with most factory and warehouse jobs paying PLN 5,500–7,500. Skilled trades and supervisors earn substantially more.
  • Massive logistics & manufacturing demand. Amazon, Volkswagen, LG, Inpost, DHL and hundreds of mid-size 3PLs are recruiting continuously across Wrocław, Warsaw, Kraków and Gdańsk.
  • Pathway to EU permanent residency. After 5 years of legal work, Nepali workers qualify for an EU long-term residence permit — giving access to all 27 EU countries.

Top sectors hiring Nepali workers

Warehouse & logistics

The biggest category by volume. Amazon fulfilment centres around Wrocław and Poznań alone employ thousands of foreign workers. Pick-pack, scan-based picking, dispatch and forklift operation. Typical salary: PLN 5,200–6,800/month (~NPR 175,000–230,000). Forklift-certified workers earn premium pay.

Factory & assembly

Automotive (Volkswagen Poznań, Stellantis Tychy), electronics (LG Wrocław), home appliances and food processing. Production-line operation, machine tending and packaging. Typical salary: PLN 4,800–6,500/month (~NPR 160,000–220,000).

Construction

Site labour, mason work, formwork. Mostly project-based contracts of 12–24 months. Typical salary: PLN 5,500–8,000/month for skilled trades.

Seasonal agriculture

Apr–Oct fruit picking and greenhouse work. Lower wages but accommodation included on-farm. Good entry route for first-time European migrants.

The visa process — Type D National Work Visa

Nepali workers enter Poland on a Type D National Work Visa issued by the Polish embassy (currently handled via the Polish embassy in New Delhi, India — there is no resident embassy in Kathmandu). Steps:

  1. Polish employer obtains a work permit from the regional Voivodship office in Poland (or a simpler "declaration of entrustment" for short-term roles up to 24 months).
  2. Work permit is sent to Nepal; Glocal Workforce coordinates DOFE pre-approval based on the attested demand letter.
  3. Worker applies for the Type D visa at the Polish embassy in New Delhi with: passport, work permit, contract, accommodation proof, travel insurance, biometric photos, sworn translations of certificates.
  4. Visa processing: typically 4–8 weeks from filing to stamping.
  5. After arrival, the worker applies for a Temporary Residence Card within the Voivodship office — typically valid 2 years and renewable.

Documents you'll need

  • Passport (24 months remaining validity ideal)
  • Schengen-standard biometric photos (35×45 mm)
  • Polish work permit (provided by employer)
  • Signed employment contract
  • Sworn translation of academic / experience certificates into Polish
  • Schengen-standard travel insurance (employer or self)
  • TB clearance test (for some visa categories)
  • DOFE pre-approval and labour permit (handled by your agency in Nepal)

What to expect on arrival

Many Nepali workers describe the first 2 weeks in Poland as more challenging than the Gulf — the language barrier is real, the climate is colder, and the food is different. But the long-term trade-off is strong: substantially higher savings, dignified working conditions under EU labour law, and a clear path to permanent residency.

  • Accommodation is typically shared dorm-style for first-arrival workers, with worker contribution of PLN 500–900/month.
  • Banking — open a Polish bank account in the first week. Most banks (PKO, Santander, Pekao) offer migrant-friendly options.
  • Language — basic Polish phrases help enormously. Many warehouses run multilingual operations with team leaders translating between English and Polish.
  • Nepali community — growing fast in Wrocław, Warsaw and Kraków. NRNA-Poland chapter active.

Salary in Nepali rupees — what does it actually mean?

A typical factory worker earning PLN 5,500/month gross takes home roughly PLN 4,000 after tax and social security. After paying ~PLN 800/month for shared accommodation and PLN 700–900 for food, you can typically send NPR 100,000–130,000 home per month. Over a 2-year contract, that's NPR 25–30 lakh in savings — comparable to top-tier Gulf wages but with EU labour rights and the path to permanent residency.
